THE ANGILRAY TRIO TO PLAY THIRD SUNDAY

The Angilray Trio, a harp, cello and flute trio, will perform in the Third Sunday Concert Series at Christ Episcopal Church in Covington on Sunday, October 21 at 5 p.m.

The trio consists of Catherine Anderson on harp, Sarah Gill on flute, and Karen Ray on cello. They will perform Trio in G Major by Franz Joseph Haydn, the Trio pour Flute, Harpe et Violoncelle by Jean-Michel Damase, and the Suite Francaise by Paul Bazelaire.

Catherine Anderson received a BM and MM in harp performance from Indiana University and performs with a wide variety of ensembles in the New Orleans area including the Louisiana Philharmonic, the Mobile Symphony, the Jefferson Performing Arts Society, the New Orleans Musica da Camera, the New Orleans Trio, and the newly formed chamber music groups Musaica and Angilray. Ms. Anderson keeps a busy teaching schedule with students at Tulane University and University of New Orleans and in her private home studio. She has served on the board of the American Harp Society for the last six years and is current President of the New Orleans Chapter.

Sarah Gill teaches flute at the University of New Orleans and is on the music faculty at both Tulane University and Loyola College. She holds degrees from Millikin University, University of North Texas, and Florida State University. Sarah won first prize in the 2005 Kentucky Flute Society Young Artist Competition and was a semifinalist in the 2004 National Flute Association Young Artist Competition.

Karen Ray appears with the Windsor Chamber Players, the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra and on the vielle with the early music ensemble, New Orleans Musica da Camera (MDC.) She lived for six years in Germany where she played with the Siegerland Orchestra and at the Koln Opera. She appears frequently as soloist and chamber musician on various recital series in New Orleans and on the gulf coast and has taught at both Loyola and Tulane Universities and at the University of New Orleans. On recent recordings, in addition to having been included as cellist on the last three CDs of singer Trish Genco, Karen can be heard playing vielle on MDC's latest CD and playing cello and vielle on the latest release by Celtic singer Betsy McGovern.

All concerts in the Third Sunday series are free, open to the public, and followed by a reception where the audience can meet the performers. Childcare is provided for children under six years of age.
