Search Committee Notes.

We have confidence that, though the past seems to slip away from us, nothing is ever lost with him. These are the final words from a sermon that can be found on the internet. To paraphrase, as we have heard many times from our Vestry, Fr. Augie, Canon Stevenson and the Search Committee, “God already knows the next Rector of Christ Episcopal Church Covington.” It is our job through the discernment process to find out what God already knows.

Please recognize the valuable progress from the efforts of the Search Committee for the last year or so, and that progress, and those efforts are part of the discernment process God has planned for us. As the Search Committee continues the journey by building upon what has already been done, we will need your constant prayers and faith.

On Monday, February 25, 2008 the Search Committee met in the Chapel. The Reverend Canon Mark Stevenson celebrated Holy Eucharist.

Afterward Canon Stevenson presented us with the names of nine candidates. Each of these candidates had already been contacted to confirm their interest in entering into the discernment process with Christ Church. Letters have since been sent to each requesting additional information and responses to a couple of questions. We are awaiting their responses.

We will be providing frequent updates, and we will give you as much information as possible while maintaining respect and anonymity for each candidate. We are open to, and encourage each member of the congregation to submit names of potential candidates.

As we navigate through the process “We have confidence that, though the future is unknown to us, He is trustworthy and true for all time.”
