BON VOYAGE, FATHER. JOHN, BON VOYAGE
An all parish “Bon Voyage” party was held following the 11:00 a.m. service on
Sunday, March 28. The occasion? Father. John’s well-deserved, fast approaching
sabbatical trip to England.
As has been the tradition at Christ Church for well over a decade (though not in
the near past), this monumental occasion could not pass without resurrecting
(how appropriate with Easter approaching) our favorite, silver-tongued orator,
Jerry Snare, and the flamboyant Vestal Virgins to properly (?) pay tribute to
the honoree. Dr. Snare struck fear into parishioners with his admonishment,
“What have you done, my People? What have you done?” This tongue-in-cheek
oration warned the congregation of what a rested, invigorated John Bauerschmidt
could accomplish – require! – upon his return.
On a lighter note (no pun intended), the Vestal Virgins serenaded Fr. John with
their version of Camelot: “Sabbatical, sabbatical – the word he longs to hear;
it’s music to his ear!”
Thanks to the hard work of the MOB, which was called into action for this
auspicious occasion; Anne Butts for the wonderful decorations; and a host of
other helpers, a fun time was had by all, as the photos indicate.
Bon Voyage, Father. John, Bon Voyage!
