A Great Debate to Be Held at Christwood
Christwood Retirement Community will host a debate between
Sigmund Freud and C.S. Lewis on Sunday, May 22 at 3 p.m.
Throughout the ages, many of the world’s greatest thinkers have wrestled with
the concept of, and belief in, God. It may seem unlikely that any new arguments
or insights could be raised; however, the twentieth century managed to produce
two brilliant men with two diametrically opposed views about the question of
God: Sigmund Freud and C.S. Lewis. They never had an actual meeting, but two
local debaters/actors will take their arguments and place them side-by-side.
Dr. Gerald Snare, Associate Professor of English at Tulane University, will
portray C.S. Lewis and local actor and attorney, Nikki Barranger, will take the
part of Sigmund Freud. They will debate God, Love, Sex, and the Meaning of Life.
The event is free and open to the public, but reservations are requested because
seating is limited. Call (985) 898-0515.
Christwood is located at 100 Christwood Blvd. in Covington, off Hwy. 21, just
south of the I-12 Interchange.
Dr. Gerald Snare (A.K.A. - C.S. Lewis) and Nikki Barranger (A.K.A. - Sigmund
Freud) prepare
for their debate about God to be held at Christwood on Sunday, May 22.
