Cross Dedication
As a part of the recent Liturgical Arts Festival held
at Christ Church and St Josephs Abbey in Covington on September 22-24, a new icon
cross was dedicated for use in worship at Christ Church.
The cross, by New Orleans iconographer Raymond Calvert, was
commissioned as part of the Festival. It depicts the crucified Christ, and is intended
principally for use in the Good Friday Liturgy at Christ Church each year. It was first
used at the Taize-style service on the Saturday evening of the Festival, and will be used
again when the next Taize service is held at Christ Church.
The icon cross is now on display at Christ Church for the forty days
that are a part of the traditional period of blessing of an icon. |
