“GROWING IN GRACE”

A special program was held at Christ Church on Saturday morning, September 28, to teach children about the meaning of the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion.

The Episcopal Church encourages baptized persons of any age to receive the Eucharist, but it is natural for children as they grow and develop to ask questions about the sacraments

“Growing in Grace” was organized by Children’s Formation Coordinator Ellen Kelley. Leading the program were Christ Church’s Rector, John Bauerschmidt, and parishioners Cherry Figueroa and Jeanne Cline. Fr John led a session which invited children back to the beginning of time to witness the Creation, and then brought them back to their new Creation in Christ. Cherry organized crafts which reinforced the teaching about the Cross and the Eucharist, and Jeanne told an engaging story which kept both parents and children entranced.

“Growing in Grace” was attended by over thirty parents and children, on a beautiful Louisiana day. The program represents part of Christ Church’s continuing commitment to instructing children in the Faith, and deepening the understanding of the Church’s sacraments on the part of all.
