Youth Christian
Formation
Journey to
Adulthood is an innovative spiritual formation program for young
people grades 6th though 12th, including three classes: Rite 13,
J2A, and Young Adults in Church (YAC). Classes meet on Sunday
morning at 10:15. The program is designed around 4 key areas: Self,
Sexuality/Gender, Spirituality and Society. Bringing scripture,
tradition, and reason together with experience, young people are
given tools and skills necessary for the Journey. For more
information contact Daniel Ciufi @ 892-3177.
Rite 13 (Grades 6 & 7): This material is based on a 2 year
celebration of “The Gift of Manhood or Womanhood”. It includes a
“Rite 13 Ceremony” which begins the process.
J2A (Grades 8 &9): Study becomes more serious during these
two years. Part of the curriculum includes preparation for
Confirmation.
Young Adults in the Church (Grades 10 -12, confirmed):
Emphasis in these two years is on Christian community and living out
the Baptismal Covenant. Time will be spent with a mentor learning
more about the various ministries in the church.
For more information about Journey to Adulthood, contact LaVondra
Dobbs (892-3177 or
ldobbs@christchurchcovington.com), who provides leadership for
this ministry.
The Sacrament of Confirmation is one of the Rites offered as part of
the Journey to Adulthood program (see above). Confirmation is a
mature decision of faith for which careful preparation is required.
Other Youth
Opportunities
Youth Band

performs for our "Youthcharist" once every other month. New members
welcome. Call Daniel Ciufi @ 892-3177 for more information and the

The Acolyte Program provides our young people with an opportunity to
participate in our liturgical life. All baptized persons, in the
third grade or above, are eligible. Adults also serve in this
ministry. Once trained, acolytes assist at Sunday services and at
other services throughout the year. Their ministry is to lead the
processions and to assist the priests during the service. To find
out more, please call Philip Wild at 892-3177.
Boy Scout Troop 193
