HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER
AT CHRIST CHURCH
- If you are a confirmed Episcopalian and have been a member of another Episcopal church, you may contact the Christ Church office to ask the parish secretary to request a letter of transfer from your former church.
- If you are a member of another Christian tradition, you must provide some proof or testimony of your baptism (which makes you a “baptized member” of the Episcopal Church). Then, after preparation, you re-affirm your faith and are welcomed as a “confirmed member” of the Episcopal Church by the Bishop. There is logic in the requirement of preparation, since the step being taken is not a casual one; there is logic, as well, in the requirement of being welcomed by the Bishop, since “Episcopalian” means “pertaining to Bishops.” Preparation takes place through the Parish process, Journey in Christ. Call the Coordinator of Adult Formation at 892-3177 for more information.
- If you are un-baptized, Christ Church will prepare you for the sacrament of baptism. For adults, this takes place through our process Journey in Christ. Call the Coordinator of Adult Formation at 892-3177 for more information.
- Youth confirmation classes are offered as part of the Christian Formation classes. Please see the Christian Formation brochure available from the church office or call the Coordinator of Adult Formation at 892-3177.
- To be an active member of Christ Church, whether or not you are a confirmed Episcopalian, you must be regular in worship, be willing to participate in the life and ministry of the parish, and if able, be willing to share in the financial support of the parish.
- All members of Christ Church may participate in any of the programs, ministries, committees, and activities with the exception of the Vestry, which is the lay governing body of the church. Only active, confirmed Episcopalians may be elected to this body. If you have any questions, please call the parish office at 892-3177.
