The Acolyte Program offers young people an opportunity to participate in our liturgical life. All baptized youth 3rd grade and older are eligible. Once trained, they assist at Sunday services and at others throughout the year. Their ministry is to lead the processions and to assist during the worship services. Trained adults are also welcome. To join this ministry, call or e-mail the parish office at 985-892-3177 and leave a message for one of the clergy.
Caring Ministries is a small group of lay people with extraordinary hearts. For over 10 years this group has maintained excellent pastoral care. This is a wonderful way to show Christ’s love in this congregation, by staying in contact with people, who for whatever reason, are not able to come to church. Contact may be a hospital visit, a meal, a card, or a phone call. There are ample opportunities to participate in this important ministry as monthly coordinators, card writers, callers or visitors. If you would like to join this ministry, please contact Nancy Sandidge, Rosalind Rhodes or Rosemary Replogle.
Greeters are parishioners who try to identify visitors to our services, help them feel welcome, and answer questions about our church. Teams work one or two Sundays a month at the 9:00 a.m. or 11:30 service, but they are needed for all services. To join this ministry, call Kathy Tuner at 893-0282 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Celebration choir including youth and young adults will sing at the 11:30 a.m service.
The Parish Choir of Christ Church leads the congregation in worship at the 11:15 service on Sunday mornings and at other designated services throughout the liturgical year. It rehearses from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursdays and again each Sunday at 10:00 a.m. If you are interesting in singing, call or e-mail Carolyn Parmenter at 892-5297 or email@example.com.
Eucharistic Ministers are trained and licensed to assist the clergy in distributing the consecrated bread and wine at the Holy Eucharist at Christ Church. They also lead the Prayers of the People. If you wish to serve as an EM, contact the church office at 985-892-3177.
Eucharistic Visitors are trained, licensed, persons who take the sacrament of Holy Eucharist to those who are unable to attend a service at the church. This sharing of the sacrament reminds all of us of our connection with one another in the Body of Christ. If you wish to serve as an EV, contact the church office at 985-892-3177.
Worship Leaders are trained and licensed to read Morning and Evening Prayer each day and lead other services occasionally. Contact the church office 985-892-3177 for details.
Lectors are trained members of the congregation who are scheduled on a rotating basis to read the Scripture lessons at the 9:00 & 11:30 a.m. Sunday Eucharists. To join this ministry, contact the church office.
Ushers are a highly visible and active group of volunteers at our services. They welcome worshipers, collate and distribute service sheets, regulate the lighting and sound system, post hymn numbers, handle seating arrangements, take up the collection, and assist in other ways as needed. Ushers are needed at all services and usually commit to working at least one Sunday a month. Call Steve Savage at 807-3328 to volunteer for this ministry.
