Sr. Wardens Report/Vestry Highlights

At the December 16, 2002, Vestry Meeting, the following items were discussed and approved:

The Vestry voted to begin renovation on the outside of the former Art Association Building, which will become the new administration building. The Site Development – Phase 2 Committee, lead by Margie Valliant who, along with Fran Whiteley, made an excellent and thorough presentation to the Vestry. Repairs to the outside of the building will begin in early January, with inside repairs to begin as the pledged capital campaign
money is received. (As an update, work began the week of January 6th on the outside of the building. Not too surprisingly, we found beams under the porch that needed to be removed, a termite-damaged sill that had to be replaced, and brick supports that needed new mortar. Work is progressing well; the weather has been cooperative, and we are hopeful to be able to have the contractor working inside and outside within a few weeks.)

The Vestry approved a recommendation that the school be allowed to remove walls on the ground level of the classroom building at the lower school site. Those classrooms have been unusable for some time due to flooding problems. The plan is to equip the area with picnic tables and ceiling fans to allow use for lunchroom and outside classrooms for the school and picnic area for the church.

The following delegates were approved for the 2003 Diocesan Convention: Scott Chotin, George Davis, Beth Drown, Vickie Polchow, and Liz Taurman. Alternates are Elizabeth Brady and Ralph Menetre.

It was agreed by the Vestry to postpone approval of a 2003 church operating budget until the January meeting, with the anticipation that there would be more information from the pledging units by that time.

Liz Taurman,
Sr. Warden
